7 Sins + 2

In the Christian tradition there are seven capital, cardinal or deadly sins: anger, pride, envy, avarice, gluttony, lust and indolence. Deceit and fear are added to create the 7 sins + 2 sometimes referred to in the Enneagram personality types. Close similarities to these 7 sins + 2 can be found in Oscar Ichazo's Enneagram of passions.
Below are the 7 sins + 2 as assigned to the nine personality types. The definitions of each need clarification to match the types. I've attempted to do just that with the definitions that follow the terms.
- Anger - resentment for having to do the right thing with little or no reward while others get away with not doing the right thing and go unpunished; also can appear as a self-righteousness in correcting things done wrongly.
- Pride - often the feeling of being needed by or indispensable to others while under the misbelief of not needing or wanting anything for themselves.
- Deceit - presenting a false image of themselves in order to fit in or succeed within a chosen group.
- Envy - a longing for things that others are or have that remind them of any perceived deficiencies in themselves.
- Avarice - a hoarding of time and resources in the belief that the world takes more than it gives back.
- Fear - difficulty acting on their own for fear of reprisal from the authority or group in charge.
- Gluttony - anticpation of new and exciting ideas and adventures that mask an escapism from difficulties and limits.
- Lust - seeking excess or intensity in order to feel stimulated or avoid boredom.
- Indolence - a laziness in developing their own personal agenda, instead looking to others for their lead.
