What type is the author?

Happiness is that state of consciousness which proceeds from the achievement of one's values.

— Ayn Rand

Wings

The wings are the types on either side of the Enneagram personality type (e.g., the wings for personality type 9 would be types 8 and 1). Although a type has two wings, a person is usually identified with having one wing or the other (e.g., a type 9 would have an 8 wing or a 1 wing - written 9w8 and 9w1).

The wings give the type a distinctive "flavor" (i.e., a 9w8 presents differently than a 9w1). The wing type is generally thought of as a secondary influence upon an individual's primary type.
