Arica Institute - Oscar Ichazo

Interpretation/Approach

It was Oscar Ichazo who originally placed the types on the Enneagram symbol sometime during the 1950s and 1960s. He created a number of different enneagrams (or enneagons as he sometimes called them). Much about the Enneagram personality types of today evolved from five of his enneagrams: the Enneagram of Fixations, Traps, Holy Ideas, Passions, and Virtues.  Although today's Enneagram personality types evolved from Ichazo's enneagrams and related concepts, Ichazo was not part of that evolution. He used his enneagram material in the Arica Institute trainings while the personality types of today evolved along a separate path during the 1970s.
